What a great start we have had to 2016 in Matai. Here is a copy of our learning space information handout from our meet the teacher evening. Feel free to come in and chat to us at any time :)

Hi from Mrs Redden!

 We are getting to know each other in Matai and would like to welcome Po, Lavinia and Nga Potiki to Sockburn School.

Children are working on their "All About Me" booklets and amazing symmetry self portraits.  

Our shared books are by Dr. Seuss so please send any to school (named) so we can enjoy his fantastic stories.

Well done to Cyrus and Tevita for constantly showing our CARES values and who have been "Caught being good." 

Miss Thomason and I are testing children on spelling, reading, writing and maths and are looking forward to starting group work soon. 

We are going to have an awesome year in Matai!

The amazing tennis🎾.

Yesterday Matai went to tennis. We are going tomorrow too. We have a lot of fun. Tennis is a very fun sport if you play it in New Zealand. When we played the day was Wednesday. At tennis we have a couple of warm ups. Tennis is a very very fun sport. I love tennis. I wish I could play it every day.

Tennis

Yesterday we played tennis. We had lots of fun. Tomorrow we will do it again. We had to do jogging for a warm up, then we had to go fast. This is why we had to go fast, we had to race.

The Amazing Tennis

On Wednesday my class went to tennis. First we had to do jogging  and it was not a race. The second time it was a race. The second hardest part was when the first person had to put one ball on their tennis racket.The third person had to put three on their racket.

Gummy Bears

Our plan for making Sockburn School more awesome was to download songs and create a playlist. We came up with this idea because we wanted our school to sing some more amazing songs. We started this plan on Monday last week. The people who came up with this idea were the Gummy Bears.
